Heavy period after covid?

I had covid for about ten days and tested negative on Thursday, the same day my period started. Today, day three, my period has been very heavy with clotting. My periods have gotten heavier since turning 40 but not this bad. Soaking through tampons in less than 2 hours. Very concerned.

Menstrual changes are common with Covid, but you're also in an age range that there could be something else going on- fibroids, or hormonal changes. I would recommend seeing your primary care doc or gynecologist.
There have been coagulation problems associated with COVID-19, so heavier menstrual cycles could be related. But there is no direct evidence that changes occur during your cycle. I suggest seeing your Gynecologist and get an ultrasound and blood work. Dale Yingling, DO FACOG
