How am I affected by strangulation?

I was recently assaulted as of yesterday at about 9 pm and choked out. I did not pass out but soon after I now have this sharp pain starting from under my ear lobe on my jawline to down my neck on one side of my face. It hurts to even swallow and sometimes to open my mouth, it even has swollen up now. Will it go away in a couple of days or is this something serious?

Any inflammation on the neck and above could be a serious matter. You should go to any UR or ER to be thoroughly check. Also, I would recommend that you should inform the police on this matter. You want everything on record. Please, go to the emergency to be check. Thank you.
This is concerning on multiple levels.
In a strange relation situation are primary concern would be that of airway injury if you’re able to breathe and your voice is normal is unlikely that you have a laryngeal injury and what you are now experiencing is probably muscular however my first concern is are you safe?
Is there another injury to your neck bones or head?
You should report this to the authorities and seek a medical evaluation

It sounds like the strangulation affected a nerve and possibly a muscle in your neck. I would advise seeing your primary doctor.
I would recommend talking with your primary care doctor and be evaluated for your injuries
