Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Cysts

How are oral cysts diagnosed?

To me, it looks like I have a cyst in my mouth. It's not very large, but there is some pain. How will I know if it is cancerous or not? Would I need it removed?

Clinical exam, appropriate imaging (2D versus 3D) and biopsy/removal.
Clinical and radiographic evaluation by a dentist or oral surgeon will help determine the next step.
