I encourage you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Loor at joseloorpodiatry.com or by calling (646) 631-8861. Taking proactive steps toward addressing your heel pain with a specialist's expertise can lead to more effective and lasting relief.
If you have tried the traditional methods for plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis such as stretching, inserts, physical therapy, anti-inflammatories and possibly steroid injections (which I refer to as internal band-aids) and you still have pain, you may want to consider Orthotripsy. We have been specializing in the one time treatment for the resolution of heel pain for over 20 years with a 1st time treatment success rate of 92%. Go to our site and review the heel pain and regenerative medicine sections for further information. No need for surgery and no time off from work or activities. midohiofootandankle.com
The best way to relieve heel pain, whether its on the bottom of the heel, plantar fasciitis, or the back of the heel, achilles tendonitis, is with stretching. There is different stretch for each one. The one for plantar fasciitis is done lying on the ground with leg straight out. Put a towel or belt around the ball of your foot. Pull towards and hold for 10 seconds. Do 2 sets of 10 twice a day. The stretch for achilles tendonitis requires a small step. Stand on the step with your heel hanging off the step. Push the heel towards the floor and hold for 10 seconds. Do 2 sets of 10 twice a day. If the heel doesnt improve in 2-3 weeks, then make an appointment to see your local podiatrist.
It is impossible to accurately answer your question. More detailed information is needed. Type of pain, duration, location, associated redness and/or swelling, activity level, level of pain, age, prior history, frequency, etc., etc.
There are many responses on here from me about heel pain. The most likely cause is plantar fasciitis. Stretching, icing, orthotics, cortisone injections, and appropriate shoe gear are all important in treating this condition. You can read some of my other, more in-depth responses on my page.
Heel pain has many causes, most common is plantar fasciitis and heel spur. ice and massage and orthotics can help, please seek out local podiatrist for options of treatment.
