Pediatrician Questions Stuffy nose

How can I treat my child's stuffy nose?

My son often has a stuffy nose. This makes it particularly difficult for him to sleep at night. What can I do treat his stuffy nose without too much medicine (since he gets this so often)?

Some medicines like steroidal nose sprays will open it up and work best daily. Do not use meds like Afrin daily because he can get rebound congestion and actually get worse. Avoid candles, potpourri, and things that could trigger the congestion.
I don't know the age of your child, but unfortunately, the only thing for the little kids is saline drops and, if an infant, then with a bulb aspirator.
