How can blurry vision be corrected?

I've been experiencing blurry vision. What could be the cause, and how can it be corrected?

Causes of blurred vision vary with age. Young people primarily experience blurred vision due to a need for glasses correction. But other conditions can be the cause.

Again the need for spectacle/contact lenses is the main cause of blurred vision until the 40’s. At this time in life, even those blessed with good vision begin to have difficulty focusing up close. This is caused by a decrease in the eye’s ability to change focus from distance to near objects.

As we age there is the increasing chance that cataract, clouding of the natural lens, will be the cause of blurred vision.

Cataracts can even occur in the young and may be present at birth. Glaucoma, a condition of abnormal eye pressure can affect vision at any age.

Lastly, general medical conditions such as diabetes or other chemical imbalances can be the cause. Other issues such as problems located in the brain can also result in visual changes.

As with any problem or change, blurred vision should be investigated by seeing an ophthalmologist.
Is your blurriness up close, in the distance, in middle ranges, is it of recent onset, did you lose any vision are all questions that you need answered. Are you an eyeglass or contact lens wearer and is it time to have your prescription checked? If you are over 40, it can be quite normal for your close vision to get blurry, called presbyopia. The causes of blurry vision can be many including the normal changes in the eyes creating more nearsightedness, farsightedness, presbyopia, or astigmatism. Depending upon your age, anormal aging process called cataract development can cause your vision to change and to become blurry. Uncorrected dry eyes can cause blurry vision as well as any internal eye infections, uveitis, or retinal conditions including macular degeneration. My best suggestion would be for you to have your blurriness properly evaluated by an eye doctor so that you know exactly what the problem is and what your options are to treat your condition. Good luck and best wishes.
