There are nicotine patches you can buy at the pharmacy, you can slowly go down on the dose. There are medicines such as Wellbutrin that can make the smoking taste bad, you need to cut down on the smoking as you take the medicine.
There is a detailed protocol to stop smoking. There are three or four methods utilized by cognitive behavior therapists. Usually treatment involves developing alternative behaviors for the craving, use of the nicotine patch and if needed medication. Good luck!
