A psychologist does not specialize in the area of speech and communication problems. You will need to contact a licensed Speech Language Pathologist to help your daughter with her speech problems.
Psychologists can help people decipher mental health conditions by utilizing a variety of schools of psychology such as cognitive psychology which ties in with brain injury, and strokes which also go along with remembering, problem-solving, etc. to help patients decode what they are experiencing in a professional setting. We understand that each person is unique with different mental health issues that may be a result of a variety of things such as unique co-occurring mental health disorders and structures in the brain not operating correctly as seen in a stroke or an accident victim. If this is happening unexpectedly or has been actively happening it is crucial and necessary to get the correct help immediately to avoid any further potential harm. Make sure she is receiving proper medical care (i.e. hospital or doctor visit) if there has been an accident or injury, then after medical concerns have been treated, follow up by making an appointment with a psychologist in a clinic as a necessary treatment intervention to help further her care and assisting her in psychological and behavioral interventions to work through her speech challenges.
Hope this helps.

Speech-Language Pathologist
You need to see a speech language pathologist. "Speech problems" is not specific. You need to ask the doctor for a prescription order for speech therapy evaluation or a referral for a speech pathology consult and you need to get an assessment from a speech language pathologist and work with that professional on your kids needs. Early intervention is key, so don't stop asking until you get a doctor to write you a referral order for speech therapy evaluation.

Hello,
Psychologists can neither diagnose nor treat speech or language disorders. You need to find a Speech and Language Pathologist near you. You can locate one by going to the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and finding a licensed SLP near you: https://www.asha.org/profind/
Best of luck!
