Excess sugar intake is the prime reason for childhood obesity. Outside of certain genetic disorders for obesity, the first step would be to cut off all excess sugar in the form of soda, diet soda, sweets, candy, gum, chocolates, processed juices, ketchups, jelly, sugary cereals.
Also be mindful of high fructose corn syrup that’s present in a lot of foods
You would benefit from a formal diet assessment by a trained dietitian.
Healthy foods, minimize processed snacks, a good sleep regimen and play time is where I would start, but there are many things you can do. I would love to discuss with you both at an appointment. Go to my website for more information. neuroswitchweightloss.com
