How do I know if my child has covid?

My son is 5 years old and he has a fever. How do I know if my child has covid?

Do the PCR test.
Covid may present with just runny nose and congestion. It may present with a cough or vomiting or diarrhea. If your child has had exposure to anyone with covid and has any symptoms they should be tested. If they have no exposures and mild symptoms testing is probably not necessary. Consult your pediatrician for more specific advice.

Hello
This a good question but it’s a complex one that would need an extensive discussion for a complete answer. Just briefly if you suspect that your child has Covid, the most accurate- sensitive- test is the pcr test. There is also a blood test done to see if they have the antibodies to COVID. If your child has any concerning respiratory symptoms - they should be evaluated by a physician ASAP or be seen in the ER.
Children rarely have symptoms of COVID. You can call his pediatrician to arrange a test and, more importantly, discuss if your child needs to be seen for anything.
Thanks for the question!

Need Covid testing with PCR testing with nasal or sputum swabs
The only way to find out if your child has COVID is to test your child for COVID.
Good luck and stay safe.

The only way to know for sure is to take him in for testing.
