My son is 7 years old and he has the flu. How do I know if my child's flu is serious?

Is he drinking fluids ok? - Is voiding ok? - behavior ok (alert - interested in watching TV or doing a few things?) - no trouble breathing? - those are the things you watch when a child is ill.
