How do pigmentation and a nevus differ?

My eye doctor just told me that I have a "nevus", which I don't exactly understand. What is the difference between having a 'nevus' in your eye, and just having a spot of excessive pigmentation?

Nevus can have a lot of pigment and be dark or light to no pigment .It is usually an area that can be light or dark and can be elevated. They need to be followed to make sure they dont grow or change color . They are usually inside the eye in tissue called choroid or ciliary body . They can also be in the iris.  Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS
