How do they numb the prostate for biopsy?

I will have a prostate biopsy. How do they numb the prostate for biopsy?

There is no numbing medicine for prostate biopsy; you will probably receive
deep sedation for this procedure, so nothing will bother you.
In regards to prostate biopsies, it can be quite uncomfortable and inconvenient. The Urologist will need to obtain about 12 samples and this can be painful also. Therefore, prostate biopsies are performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation.
