My 7 year old son snores very loudly at night and I think he has sleep apnea. How do you detect sleep apnea in a 7 year old?

Sleep study will help to diagnose.
You will need to see a sleep specialist and have a sleep study performed.
This is done just like we diagnose sleep apnea in adults. Do a sleep study evaluation.
You can be suspicious by hearing snoring but the only way to really tell is to arrange for a sleep study.That will require your pediatrician and a sleep specialist. It is definitely worth looking at if you are suspicious
