Chronic knee pain from overuse with no other pathology often requires a few needles at the knee and others away from it. So long as there are no tears or other structural problems, it should respond well.
Acupuncture can fix chronic knee pain.

Yes
Acupuncture can treat most kinds of chronic pain, including knee pain.
It depends on what is causing your chronic knee pain. I encourage you to get acupuncture.
Physical therapy, physician/physical therapist home exercise program, NSAIDs, and Tylenol. If all fails, injections/ surgeries may be considered.
If your knee pain is chronic, you will need multiple sessions per week for a period of time. Then you can decrease sessions to once a week once it is under control. You need a private consultation to discuss your knee pain issue.
From the perspective of Chinese medicine and acupuncture, the problem with these types of question is: only knowing a patient has chronic knee pain doesn't give me nearly enough information to know how I'm going to attempt to treat. I don't know what's wrong from either the standpoint of Chinese medicine or the standpoint of conventional medicine. Without having some idea why this pain exists, I have no idea how I'm going to attempt to reduce or eliminate the issue.

In my experience, there are certain kinds of joint issue where the best solution is surgery. I don't know if your problem rises to this level of intervention.

Also in my experience, there are certain kinds of joint issue where acupuncture and Chinese medicine can provide significant relief, but the patient is probably looking at some form of long term maintenance - maybe monthly treatment, maybe a couple of times per year. Again, I don't know if your issue puts you in this space.

In my experience, there are other kind of joint issue where acupuncture and Chinese medicine can provide an apparently permanent fix. Don't know if this is where you are.

Lastly, in my experience, there are some joint issues where patients make the best progress using some combination of Chinese medicine and conventional medicine. And I have no idea if this is where you are.

Here's what I can tell you. The science behind acupuncture's effectiveness in pain management is virtually overwhelming. If a patient has any kind of pain, anywhere on the body, they are usually better off in the long run trying acupuncture first. If 3-5 sessions of acupuncture doesn't improve the problem then move on to other pain management options or consider combining acupuncture with some other pain management modality.

It's also important to understand that there are dramatically different training levels among providers offering 'acupuncture-like' services. For the best possible outcome you want to see someone who attended and graduated from a school of Chinese medicine, is nationally board certified in acupuncture, and is licensed by your state as an acupuncturist. Generally speaking, chiropractors and physical therapists do not have these qualifications and credentials. To find nationally board certified acupuncturists in your area, go to NCCAOM.org and use their 'Find a Practitioner' lookup.
