“How do you floss after getting braces?”
I want to floss but it's very difficult with braces. How do you floss after getting braces?

You can find floss threader over the counter @ CVS, Walmart/ Walgreens and follow the directions on the package. Very easy.
Flossing with braces is definitely more difficult. The floss needs to go under the wire between each tooth. When the gums are healthy this should not be too difficult. You can also use a floss threader to help. These should be available from your orthodontist or you can get them at a pharmacy. There should be plenty of YouTube videos available for a demonstration of using threaders with braces.
Flossing with braces is difficult. The easiest way I've found is using GUM soft picks, original or advanced. Another method is using a floss threader. But its use is somewhat more difficult. Speak with your dentist to determine the best way to floss. You can use an electric toothbrush to help keep your braces and teeth clean. Discuss using a fluoride rinse or a prescription strength toothpaste to keep your teeth from decalcifing around the brackets. Speak with your dentist for the best home care plan to have a perfect smile after you've completed your orthodontic treatment.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Hi, great question! We direct patients to use platypus flossers which are specifically made for use with braces. Or you can use floss threaders. It can also be helpful to use an air- flosser or a water pick as part of your oral hygiene regimen with your braces.
