If you have a toothache, you could have a cavity that may have reached the nerve and require a root canal. There are many reasons for a toothache, so see a dentist to have it evaluated.

A toothache can result from multiple causes. You should visit your endodontist for an exam and X-ray to help determine the cause and for any necessary treatment.

A toothache is usually caused by an infected tooth. If this is the case, the two main treatment options are a root canal or an extraction, depending on how severely decayed the tooth is and if it can be saved or not. In the meantime, antibiotics may be prescribed, but this is only a temporary fix.
A toothache that causes a headache may be due to any number of reasons. The most important thing to do is to have an oral evaluation by your dentist to determine which tooth or teeth are problematic. If you are experiencing facial swelling or difficulty breathing from an infected tooth, please report to the Emergency Department.

Headaches radiating from teeth can be due to infection or fracture or inflammation of the nerve inside the tooth called pulpits. Please go see a Dentist. Over the counter anti inflammatory medications can help in the interim.

If you have a toothache, there is only one cure -- see your local dentist. There are so many causative factors that, without examining you, no competent dentist is able to tell you how to treat your particular problem. Toothaches never disappear by themselves. They need to be treated. If you have a transient toothache and headache for a few moments after eating ice or ice cream, that is fairly normal and is just your nerves reacting to the cold. Anything else could be a sign of disease, and the sooner you get treatment, the better and safer for you.
When you go to a dental professional and have the offending tooth treated, the head pain should go away if it was referred pain from a tooth.
