“How do you prepare for a heart ablation?”

Great question. Whoever is doing the ablation should provide you with instructions. Most places would have you not eat or drink for 12 hours prior. If you are on meds, talk with the team about when they want you to stop them.

You should have clear instructions from your cardiologist in regards to that. He can suggest any alterations to your medications (i.e., blood thinners). Typically, you will be instructed not to eat anything after midnight the night before your procedure, to assure that your procedure is done on an empty stomach. Suggest contacting your cardiologist.
