Great question! It depends! (I know, everyone loves that answer.. but it's true!) If the impingement is from a bursa or some soft tissue, versus a fixated fibrotic joint, we might take different approaches. The central theme though, would be introduce gentle motion to the area. I would lean toward specific adjustments, and controlled stretches to your comfort. One of my favorite exercises is to be in a tripod position (on all 4's, spine neutral, and one leg up with foot flat on the ground) and then lean forward and back in a slow, controlled pace to stretch the hip of the foot that is up.--- If that isn't a good enough description, you can email me and I'll try to draw you a picture... =X
With a diagnosis of hip impingement (likely FAI – Femoroacetabular Impingement), treatment generally requires a combination of mobility, stability, and movement retraining. The term "release" in this context generally refers to decreasing muscle tension and improving joint mobility to create more space for the hip to move without restriction or irritation.
Unfortunately I need more information. How did they determine you have hip impingement and where is the impingement and to what nerve? How is the hip joint itself. Its not such a black and white answer. It depends on a number of factors as you can see. Jay H Schwartz, DC, DIBCN, DIBE
Morning! It really depends on what you mean when you are referring to your "hip". The true hip is the ball and socket joint where your largest leg bone (femur) articulates with the pelvis. But experience has shown me that when most patients refer to their "hip" they really mean their SI joint or top of their pelvis (illium). Can you be more specific on where you mean?
Great question. Pending the location and cause of the impingement would be the best place to start. Did the healthcare professional who diagnosed you with hip impingement give you any additional information? In Health, J. Korey Harris, D.C.
Hi there,           Thank you for your question. Our chiropractors would do an evaluation, physical exam and create a treatment plan at your new patient exam. Our chiropractors would use their hands and sometimes tools to adjust and apply pressure to realign the affected area and reduce pain and pressure. These techniques they use can improve your range of motion and alleviate your pain.   You can give our office a call anytime and we can book you your first appointment! We fill up quickly so let us know as soon as possible.  thank you, Jill and PHC Team
You don't release an impingement you reduce the inflammation around the hip.
I use sound wave therapy that removes inflammation around the nerves relieves pain
Try PT or chiropractic. It depends on how it’s impinged.
Adjustments, therapy, and giving you homework like stretching and massage.
It depends what the cause is of the hip impingement. If it is from Pelvic misalignment, Chiropractic adjustments can help you then.
There are stretches and therapies that could help. But if it’s a musculoskeletal alignment issue you’ll need to see a chiropractor.
