How does high blood pressure relate to kidney problems?

I am a 49 year old male. I want to know how does high blood pressure relate to kidney problems?

1/3 of the blood pumping from your heart goes to your kidneys. The kidneys are made of blood vessels, large, medium size, and small blood vessels. When high blood pressure goes untreated, the blood vessels of the kidneys get damaged resulting in long-term kidney damage and kidney failure.
