The practical aspect of the question is when can the implant be restored. Osseointegration refers to the microscopic growth of bone intimately around the implant. In general on a healthy patient, it takes about 4 months for implants to heal enough to withstand the forced of chewing. In some cases, a longer period of time is warranted if there are medical conditions or in areas that were reconstructed at the same time. Some implants can be restored immediately upon placement if biting forces are reduced or for some dentures, where forces are less than in patients with opposing natural teeth. . Typically, these will need a final prosthesis later on.
It depends on the location. Maxillary, 4 months; mandibular, 3 months.
Hello There,
Implant osseointegration typically takes 4-6 months in an non-medically compromised patient. Depends on your medical and social history, the time may take longer. Examples such as patients who smoke or chew tobacco may take longer for the process to occur or not even happen at all. Patient with history of DM, radiation treatment or certain usage of medications also affect the process of bone remodeling and integration. I hope that helps!
That is individual to the person having the implant. Normal integration is indicative of the location of the implant, the type of implant and to the health of the patient having the implant. Certain health issues cause slower healing as well as certain medications, and if you are a smoker or not. Normal healing time can be as short as 3 months up to 6-8 months.

4-6 months.

Generally speaking, most practitioners allow minimum 4 months integration time unless they feel that they have excellent primary stability upon placement of the implant.

Generally speaking, depending on the quality of the bone receptor, a tooth dental implant takes 3 months to osseointegrate in lower jaw, and 6 months for the upper or maxillary jaw. This time can vary depending on the complexity of each case. For more information on dental implants and osseointegration, please click here:

4 months
The answer is, it varies. Traditionally, the lower jaw, where the bone is more dense, is 3-4 months. In the upper jaw, it is 5-8 months. Health factors like smoking or diabetes can slow down the healing process.
3-6 months
Usually it’s between 4 to 6 months for the implant to integrate. It depends on the area of the mouth and the quality of the bone.
