If glaucoma is under control you will never go blind from it. It is a chronic disease and needs to be taken care off. It is rare to go blind in both eyes from glaucoma. You eye doctor should explore all the options to keep your glaucoma under control.
It all depends upon how long you have already unknowingly had the disease, how high your pressures are, and how much damage your eyes have already sustained. Ask your eye care professional those questions.
Most people do not go bling from glaucoma. It needs to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. Treatments are to lower eye pressure to protect optic nerve. Treatments include drops laser and surgery. You need to be followed carefully 2 to 4 times a year by an eye care professional.
Unless you have extreme circumstances/genetics, it is rare to go completely blind from Glaucoma if you follow your treatment/follow up appointments. There are many medications, laser treatments, and surgeries to manage and significantly slow glaucoma. Many people with glaucoma never experience any appreciable vision loss.
Usually later on in life if not treated
With proper medical and surgical management one may never go blind with glaucoma. Treatment includes drops, laser, and surgery. It is very important that patients with glaucoma have regular eye examinations with their ophthalmologist.
Acute glaucoma can cause blindness in two days while chronic glaucoma takes months to years.
