It depends on the cause of the swelling. If it is an ankle sprain, it takes 6 weeks and must be protected to heal. If it is venous insufficiency(a circulatory problem) it will resolve after about 1 months of compression stockings. It depends on why it is swollen. You could have had a sprain/injury, you might have a vascular problem, you might be retaining fluid, you may have a cyst. Go see a specialist
