Only as long as the procedure unless you have a nerve block, which can last up to 3 days
It depends on the type of surgery and also the skill of the surgeon. For example: carpal tunnel surgery usually takes about 30 minutes. Open reduction and internal reduction of a fracture could take about 2 hours. Rest assured that you will never wake up before the end of the surgery.
