500 mg, 3 times a day for 1 week.
You should follow the directions on your prescription bottle.
The "normal" regimen for an adult (no allergies to Penicillian) is a 500mg tablet, 30 tablets, 2 tablets right away and then 1 (one) tablet every 6 hours until ALL are gone. Complete the medication even if the discomfort has subsided. STOP the medication if rash occurs or you become itchy and call your Dr. right away to inform.
It depends on the nature of the infection: acute vs. chronic. If you think you have an infection, you should visit a dentist ASAP. Your dentist will determine what kind of antibiotics and the regimen. Sometimes it's necessary to drain the infection immediately. Also, antibiotics have a short shelf life, therefore, the ones you have had at home for awhile may not be adequate in quantity and quality.
500mg 3x a day for a week, then a visit to the dental professional is recommended to permanently solve the problem.
