I will have a root canal. How much pain is normal after a root canal?

There is no yes or no answer to the question. It will depend on a few things: *) How infected the tooth was. *) How skilled the clinician is. If the clinician is skilled and the infection is NOT out of control, then postoperatively, the discomfort should be minimal and very transient (24-48 hrs). OTC pain meds should be able to handle it if necessary. Best,
