I personally don’t believe you need to eliminate sugar from your diet for most people with diabetes. It really is all about balance and moderation. There is typically “sugar” in just about everything you eat, which is used to fuel the body. I typically recommend literally eating your vegetables and protein first in your meal and eat starches/simple sugars later. Keep the serving size to 1-2 depending on your weight and caloric needs.
Ideally as little sugar as possible. If you do have something with sugar, make sure you pair it with something to slow down the absorption of that sugar (protein/fiber/fat.)
