It various from a few years to b decades. Remove it if your c vision is affected.
cataracts grow at different rates for different kinds of cataracts. The normal aging cataract can take 3 to 5 years to bother the patient . A cataract call a posterior sub capsular cataract can grow quickly . 6 months to a year . Cataracts that grow peripherally called cortical cataracts can grow over 1 to 3 years. Everyone is bothered by cataracts at their own rate . Some people  notice cataract early on and it bothers them early and others can go years without the cataract effecting them significantly . Each patient and there eye doctor make the decision together when the right time for cataract surgery is .I R Sent from the all new AOL app for iOS
Most people can take 3 to 5 years once a cataract is first diagnosed. However some people, like my mom, it happens within 6 months. If you have other medical conditions or take certain medications like steroids, it can happen faster.
Unfortunately everyone is different when it comes to Cataract progression, its like asking how fast does a tomato ripen. Depends on a number of factors. Technically cataracts grow from your early 40s till they are removed. Some patients have them done in their 50s, and some in their 80s.
varies from patient to patient
