depends on the injury, depends on the exercise, depends on the person.....too many variables to appropriately answer this type of question.
Hello, Dr. Dan here,

The answer will vary depending on the severity, type, presenting symptoms and more with your injury. In all cases a licensed professional needs to be consulted before determining if exercise is safe to perform.

Most musculoskeletal injuries will take care of themselves within 6-12 weeks, the best thing for most injuries is to keep moving safely. I educate my patients on the following scale:

1. 0-3(out of 10) discomfort while doing a movement, is a green light, as long as it doesn't become worse in the next 48 hours (GREEN LIGHT).

2. 4-6(out of 10) discomfort, activity should be reduced/modified to bring it down to the green light level (YELLOW LIGHT).

3. 6+ (out of 10) discomfort that activity should not be pursued (Red Light).

As stated before if you are experiencing any pain, a licensed professional should be consulted to make sure it is safe to move.

I hope this helps,

Dr. Dan
