As soon as you can, provided there are no post operative symtoms.
After you finished the RCT then you can have the restoration or filling right away.
You should get the filling and crown within a month of getting the root canal. Dr. Totonchi
Hi, Thank you for Asking the important Question! As soon as you have a root canal treatment complete and the tooth has no more symptom such as pain, swelling, pus nor biting pressure. Then you should have the final filling placed. I know that some dentists will place the filling and even prepare the tooth for a crown immediately right after the root canal treatment is completed on the very same visit. This can be very risky especially if there were still, pain, pus oozing from the gum area and swelling presence. These are the contraindications to put a filling on the very same visit. Dr. Chin
Normally, you should allow a week after the root canal before putting a permanent filling on the tooth - to allow adequate time to rule out any flare up of the tooth requiring retreating of the root canal. The permanent filling should be in within a month of the root canal. If its a back tooth, it should also have a crown done after the root canal.
It depends on the condition of the tooth. Restorative work is typically done about two weeks after a root canal is completed but may be sooner if the area is healing well and the tooth needs more immediate attention.
