“I have a question about lab results?”

What’s happening is that as soon as the whole blood sample is collected, the laboratory technologist using a centrifuge, separates the RBCs from the plasma as soon as possible. These results represent interactions of cells with serum/plasma, altering its chemical composition and affecting test results. The time frame to do the blood/plasma separation is within 2 hours. Human blood serum does not contain white blood cells, red blood cells, or platelets. The red coloration means that there is hemolysis. Thank you.
