I have a question about liver numbers?

Is the liver ratio ast/alt only good if numbers are out of range? Mine are in normal range but if you do the ratio says I have cirrhosis.

This does not mean you have cirrhosis.
We worry about the ALT/AST ratio if it is 3 times above normal. Or if the bilirubin is also very high. If all LFTs are normal, then the ratio doesn’t mean anything.
Usually if the liver transaminases, i.e. AST and aALT are within normal limits then you do not have Hepatitis(inflammation of the liver) based on cirrhosis so quite honestly unless you have “end stage”liver disease the liver can be so exquisitely damaged such that the liver actually cannot produce those high levels of transaminases anymore —so based on what you’ve said // I would say you actually don’t have any indication of cirrhosis
You cannot diagnose cirrhosis by looking at AST and ALT. Cirrhosis has little to do with whether those numbers are normal or elevated.
Thanks for your question,

Disorders that cause liver disease are considered “hepatocellular” when ALT and AST predominate. In medical practice, if AST/ALT ratio are 2:1 usually indicate Alcohol hepatitis, or some excess alcohol intake and not Cirrhosis of the liver per se. Your doctor can help by doing a thorough physical exam and ordering an appropriate imaging study.
Hope that was helpful.
