OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Sex

I’m Scared

I’ve recently had sex, which resulted in a UTI. I took Plan B after, and I’ve gotten negative pregnancy tests. However, I was supposed to start my period today and I didn’t, and I’m just scared that I’ve gotten false negative tests. I think the stress is affecting my period, but I’m just so scared. Can you calm my nerves or give me some advice?

Plan B very almost always disrupts the period cycle - you can take another pregnancy test tomorrow but this is very common - and you can always get a full proof blood test for pregnancy at your doctors office.=20
Please know that both the UTI and plan B can affect your hormones and cause a delay in your cycle. While it is possible that you could be pregnant because you had unprotected intercourse, it's equally likely that you are not pregnant. Wait a week and if you have not had your menstrual cycle by then, it's recommended that you retest and be seen by a medical provider.
