Root Canals are usually required ecause of infection, so yes, it’s serious in that we want to eliminate infections quickly when above the shoulders! These procedures are still technically non invasive in that the treatment remains completely within the tooth!
Any procedure can be serious but its not difficult and should not be painful. its pretty painless during the procedure and after word with antibiotics and pain med should be pretty comfortable and after one or two days you dont need pain med any more.
Root canal treatment is simply removing infected material from the canal space, cleaning the canal well, and filling it to prevent reoccurrence of infection in that area.
It is amazing a dentist can do this without seeing into the canal.
The canal twists and turns, yet it is possible do the above.
How can the dentist provide this treatment to the end of the canal, and not beyond, without any vision to the end of the root canal?
Your dentist deserves a huge thank you for having the skill to complete such a task.
In my mind, this is a more difficult procedure than open heart surgery.
Thank you for your excellent question.
