Standard practice is sedation instead of anesthesia. The procedure does not take as much time as surgery. You won't even know they are done until you wake up from the medication.
No. It is preferable to have medication which leaves you able to cooperate with the physician’s requests. You are easily brought back to full consciousness and it’s not as dangerous as general anesthesia.
