Yes poor quantity and/or quality of sleep can lead to multiple medical problems
Insomnia is very common these days. As we age, we sleep less deeply and long. Stress can cause insomnia. We do need a certain amount of sleep to heal our cells and rejuvenate. Besides, being fatigued all the time is no fun. There are many ways to treat insomnia, depending on what's causing it. Check with your local acupuncturist to see what they can recommend.
Thank you for your email. Yes, insomnia can be serious if it becomes a chronic problem. Chronic insomnia is defined as 3 or more nights per week for 3 or more months. Chronic insomnia can be associated to coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cancer. There are many sleep aids out there and acupuncture has been known to be helpful in this area as well. The best thing to do is to consult your doctor about the issue and they can recommend the best course of action for you. I hope this was helpful and I wish you the best of luck in your health journey. - Dr. Hallie OGorman

Insomnia can become dangerous. Weve all experienced a sleepless night or two, but chronic sleepless nights may lead to deficiency in immunity and affect your health. We can use acupuncture or herbal formula supplements to address the insomnia condition. Check with your primary to see if alternative medicine would be beneficial for you. - Live Happy, Michael
