Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions jaw cancer

Is jaw cancer curable?

I have been receiving treatment for jaw cancer. However, I would like to know -- is it completely curable? What is the survival rate?

It all depends on the type of cancer you are being treated for. This would be a question for your surgeon and/or oncologist, but there are many types that have a high survival rate.
Hello, I wish you well in your treatment. In regards to your question: your cure and survivability rates vary depending on the type and stage of the disease involved. It is best to consult with your oral and maxillofacial surgeon regarding your treatment prognosis.

The answer really depends on the stage of the cancer. Stage I/II have better chances of having a 5-year disease-free prognosis, however, this drops once stage III/IV disease is present. So, it really depends on your cancer and what stage it’s diagnosed at.
It is curable. The earlier that it is detected, the better. Five-year survival rates are greater then 75%. If spread to regional lymph nodes, then survival rates drop to somewhere in the 30% range. Technology is improving and the future looks bright.
