“Is laparoscopic gallbladder surgery a major surgery?”
I need to have gallbladder surgery. Is laparoscopic gallbladder surgery a major surgery?

It’s usually an outpatient surgery, unless you have a serious infection or worst case scenario your gallbladder were to burst and that would be a medical emergency and require surgery and a hospital stay. I had my gallbladder removed laparoscopically and it went great.
It’s a common misconception that 3-4 small incisions of less than 1/2 an inch makes surgery simple. The end result is still a major change to the body. Whether you have one large incision or many small incisions you are still having an organ removed that affects digestion in your body.
While the odds of success are very high and the rate of complications very low, it is still major surgery and should be taken seriously.
