Depending on the type of surgery, some pain is expected afterwards. Your dentist should be able to help you manage this pain by providing appropriate medications. Please reach out to their office if you are in pain.
It can be, depending on the nature of the surgery. I would contact the office that did the surgery though. They will want to monitor and track the symptoms. No smoking (anything-vaping, marijuana, cigarettes, no smoking), rest, and follow postoperative instructions.

Usually not if it lasts several days after.
Throbbing pain is not normal after extraction. If it persists more than a day, see your dentist.
