Flat feet are hereditary. Some of the best athletes have flat feet. As long as you are able to do everything you want to do in life don't worry about shoes or no shoes. If you having pain you should see us or an orthopedic surgeon.
I have never heard of that recommendation.
This is a subject which has no real scientific answer. So you may get different answers from different physicians. Some patients with flat feet develop pain due to muscle weakness so exercise structured and walking without shoes can be helpful. Some have constant pain and an orthotic and supportive shoe is helpful. So I would suggest both and see which works best for you. Good luck.
If you have flat feet and you can walk without pain, then you are not doing any harm to your feet. However, if they become painful, don't walk barefooted. Get shoes with a good arch support or get some inserts from any store that has good arch supports and put them in your shoes.
Hope it helps!!

It doesn't make any difference if you walk barefoot. If your flat feet are painful, then using an arch support could be helpful.
