Blood transfusion is given if your hemoglobin is less than 8 g/d (grams per deciliter). Blood transfusion is given for anemia, major surgical operation, accident resulting in significant loss, cancer patients, severe burns, patient with hereditary disorders such as hemophilia, and others. Eat plenty of protein. Have a physician examine you for blood loss and review other lab values.

Try increasing your iron consumption by one pill daily. The cause may be because of menstruation, and if iron doesn't help, you may need a hysterectomy. See a hematologist first to rule out other etiologies.
