How does having hemophilia affect my child's life?

My 3 year old son was diagnosed with hemophilia A. How does having hemophilia affect my child's life?

1 Answer

As you probably know, hemophilia is an inherited disease. Hemophilia is caused by a lack of necessary clotting factors. This will cause your son to bleed much more easily than those who have those factors. Children are often injured at home or school when they play, and careful attention needs to be paid to those injuries to insure they do not cause bleeding which may be dangerous. I hope you have been referred to a pediatric hematologist or hemophilia center who can educate you about the many risks a child with hemophilia may have in their daily life activities.
