Netty pot and filtered refrigerator water?

I have Covid so I wanted to use the Netty pot to keep my nasal passages clear. I used filtered water from my refrigerator and I’ve done it eight times over the past three days. I just read that that is bad and can cause a brain-eating amoeba. I am freaking out and wondering if I should be concerned?

Yes water that isn't boiled could cause an amoeba Infection with an Netty pot.Boil the water you use for irrigating your nose and add some salt which makes it less irritating to the nasal tissue.
There is no evidence whatever that the current fad of nasal irrigation effectively prevents or treats anything. And yes, there have been several deaths reported from amoebic meningitis in people who irrigate their noses with tap water, which is not sterile. If you must use irrigation, use sterile saline or boil tap water for 15 minutes. The nose has a self-cleaning mechanism that is far more efficient than anything humans have devised.

Recommendations are to utilize distilled water, which has been boiled and conserved. Filtered water through the refrigerator with adequate filtration is probably safe without concern of any parasites.
