Pain Meds safe while taking Lyrica 25 mg

My husband is taking Lyrica 25 mg. He started them today. He has shingles and needs to know what pain medication he can take with it. He was prescribed perocects, but Dr said don't take with Lyrica & pharmacist said it was fine to take with Lyrica. He doesn't know if safe or not to take together. He just took his Lyrica 7 minutes ago. If not Percocets, then what else can he take?

He should avoid taking Percocet with Lyrica. He could try acetaminophen if he is still in pain.
It is best for your husband to follow his doctor's instructions on the prescriptions (Lyrica and Percocet) as his doctor is the prescriber and knows more about his health history. Lyrica can also help with pain so that may be enough. If pain is not manageable following up your prescribing doctor for pain management is best.

Hi! Your Dr is correct. Both of those drugs are central nervous system depressants, meaning they slow down things like your heart rate, digestive tract, and can lead to serious side effects including respiratory distress, coma, and even death. An alternative medication for pain could be ibuprofen or a natural approach would be St Johns wort ointment or cream topically. Hope this helps and he feels better soon! Dr Bosworth
Lyrica is a band-aid. You need certain chinese herbal supplements oriented around the liver, as well as high dose vitamin D.
