“Pain near ribcage?”
I have a severe sharp pain on my right back side near the ribcage when I take a deep breath. It hurts to yawn, cough, and sneeze. Can it be a sprained rib? It is not a constant pain, it hurts only when taking a deep breath.

Please get a PA and lateral chest Xray. May need a CT scan of chest.
Hello, it could be inflammation where the rib and cartilage meet or it could be pleurisy, or it could be a few other things. You need to be seen by your primary care provider and be examined to determine the source.
