Retained wooden foreign body?

I have a large piece of wood approximately 3 inches long in the palm of my hand. I've had surgery to remove it but the surgeon was unable to find it and I was dismissed as needing mental help. I have images of the palm of my hand that I paid for out of pocket that shows multiple pieces of wood in my hand. My question is, will I continue to suffer for the rest of my life with this, or will the pain and sickness this large piece of barn wood has caused me ever go away?

If the surgeon could not find it, then it is probably a small piece of wood that is left. One of two things will happen. The foreign body will get infected and pus will form around it that will need to be drained and the wood will come out then. Otherwise, the remaining wood is small and the body will wall it off with scar tissue and it won't be a problem. Hope it helps!
Our bodies are unable to dissolve wood therefore if there is in fact wood fragments in your hand, they will remain there.
