“Retainer Problem ”
I have a clear retainer that I accidentally spilled nail polish remover on. It probably only had nail polish remover on it for 5 minutes, but it now has a large white spot on it. I'm not sure what to do.

Check with your orthodontist as this might be damaged and not good to be worn
Yikes! That's okay... It might be time to get a new retainer. Nail polish can change the internal shape of your retainer and it can start moving your teeth around..
If it fits well, you can continue to wear it. If it does not, you need a new retainer
In this situation you should have a professional Orthodontist look at your clear retainer. If the Doctor thinks that the retainer did not got damage, just keep wearing them as instructed. Otherwise, if the clear retainer got damage you will need to replace that clear retainer for a new one.
Feel free to rinse it to remove the nail polish remover and then you are free to use it again. Nail polish remover could stain it like you suggest it but if the exposure was not prolonged the retainer should still be functional. The white spot may be permanent though.

Thank you for your question. Ideally, your orthodontist should look at the clear retainer to make sure no damage and or distortion has occurred. However, if you can still wear it, continue to do it until you can be seen. Hope this help.

First, rinse it well. Second, look to see if the retainer looks deformed. If it does not and it only looks cloudy/white, try it in and make sure it feels normal and comfortable. If anything feels out of normalcy, then call your orthodontist for a retainer check and see if a new one needs to be made. The sooner the better because your teeth will begin shifting immediately!
