Rolled ankle?

I have rolled in (the most common type of sprain) the same ankle multiple times but whenever it happens, I don’t have pain on the outside of the joint like you typically see (unless very bad). Instead, I experience a lot of pain on the inside of my ankle/foot. I’ve been told this is soft tissue getting pinched?? I just want more insight because as a elite runner, it is very painful and is currently sidelining me. No bruising or swelling at all, just very sore and painful to walk or run or stand on, all on the inside of my foot/ankle. Basically where it folded in. Please help me understand so I can self treat better!

It is possible that you have an osteochondral defect of your Talus. This is a common injury in an ankle sprain. So this means you may have damage to the cartilage in your ankle joint. You should likely have an MRI or CT scan to evaluate the cartilage (an MRI would be better, as it would also show if you've ruptured the ligaments around the ankle)
Ankle sprains can be cumulative, meaning each time you injure the ankle, you will be prone to more easily injuring the ankle in the future. You may have tendinitis from overuse due to altered mechanics of the lower extremity. I recommend evaluation by a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for accurate diagnosis and treatment options.
Probably an osteochondral fracture of the talar dome. Usually tested with arthroscopy. Will not heal on its own.
