“How long does it take for a broken foot to heal?”
I am a 54-year-old male who injured his foot at work. I want to go back to work as soon as possible. How long does it take for a broken foot to heal?

It normally takes broken bone 6-8 weeks to heal. Time to heal also depends on the type of fracture and the bone that is fractured.
Since you injured your foot at work, I would recommend calling your work and reporting the injury as soon as possible. It will probably be in your best to avoid placing weight on the foot and probably best not to return to work until you have been evaluated by a foot and ankle specialist.

I would have to do a quick exam to tell you a specific answer. This will progress if left untreated. There are multiple conservative options that work very well. Please, make an appointment with me in my Chandler office (480) 269-7130 and I will go over all of your options. Depending on Xrays (if needed) that I can take at my office and the clinical exam, I am able to diagnose and recommend different treatment options. I recommend you have this checked as soon as you can, especially since I can usually treat this without surgery very well in just one visit with me. My office is located on Dobson Road, just north of Chandler Regional Hospital. Advanced Foot & Ankle Specialists of Arizona. Feel free to ask to be seen by me specifically and I will get you in the same day or the latest the next day. I take all insurances, please do not go off of the insurance list on this website as it is not updated yet. Mention that I have talked to you on the internet. I can also do the entire visit with you over the phone or video call as well, which most insurances cover, even if you are out of state and my staff can verify this for you when you schedule. Thank you and have a good evening.
In general, bones takes six weeks to heal. The time for a broken bone to heal on the foot depends upon which bone it is. Some stress fractures will heal in only a couple weeks, some metatarsal base fractures take months. You need to see your podiatrist and have X-rays to determine what kind of fracture you have and how long you need to be off.

It depends on which part of the foot is broken. Based upon the location of the broken bone on the foot will determine how long it will take. The general rule of thumb is 6-8 weeks for a foot fracture. Having said that, it's important that you're doing your best to stay off the broken foot. It's always a good idea to have an off-loading shoe or crutches to keep pressure off the broken bone. I
If it is a toe fracture, buddy taping the broken toe and wearing a surgical shoe helps reduce the range of motion of the broken bone and may reduce time in bone healing.
It is best to have the broken bone evaluated by a podiatrist to come up with a proper fracture protocol to help prevent any complications such as a non-union fracture.

There are many reasons why TY would heal faster or longer. You need to ask a podiatrist that has your foot in front of him/her.
Hello,
Normal bone healing timeframe is 6-8 weeks. Increase your calcium intake along with vitamin D to help lay new bone faster.

Injuries at work are covered by worker's compensation. A broken bone typically takes 6-8 weeks to heal.
Thanks for the question. Normal bone healing takes 6-8 weeks. With that said there are certain types of fractures that have a higher chance of becoming non-unions or fractured bones that can have longer healing rates. I suggest you seek council with your medical professional to discuss your particular foot fracture and treatment protocol. Good luck to you.
Depending on what type of fracture, and if appropriate care is given, fractures typically take 4 to 6 weeks to heal. There are many factors that can affect this time frame.

It takes 6-8 weeks for bone to heal as long as you are compliant with staying off of your foot to allow healing.
Depending on what bone was broken and how badly. If it is a crack in the metatarsal bone it takes about 6-8 weeks to heal. There may still be some swelling in the foot on and off for a few months though.
