Serum overnight storage before shipping?

I was doing the Western blot test for HVS and it came back negative for both. But I could not ship it that day as the FedEx was closed before I was able to get there. So I decided to place the sample serum in my refrigerator as I didn't have any choice. My refrigerator is at 37F and my doctor said it should be fine as I shipped it overnight the next day. I just wanted to see if keeping my sample in my refrigerator was the right choice or should I get the test done again as I may have damaged the test results.

Refresh me again, do you refer to HSV (HSV) Herpes simplex virus? It is okay, but if it was not adequate, the lab will require additional sample. The serum should be stored at 4-7*C until shipment take place for a max of seven days. But it is in the laboratory where their refrigerators are set at that temperature to avoid degradation. Thank you.
It should be fine, but if you still have concerns, just repeat the test. I would recommend having a lab do it for you, so you don't have to worry about transportation yourself.

Refresh me again, what's "HVs" (you didn't mean "HSV" = herpes simplex virus?), and what symptoms prompted you to take this test? If you still have the symptoms and are able, I would re-take the test just to be sure. Dave Gordon, M.D.
